immersed in a seven-year archive of photographs, matuto investigates the photobook as a space of montage. the sequence organizes images produced at different moments through formal, conceptual, rhythmic, affective, and temporal relationships, with editing functioning as the central device of the book. characters, gestures, and situations reappear throughout the sequence in variations, establishing recurrences that guide the rhythm of reading and continually reshape the meaning of the images. matuto develops its own logic of montage, where cuts, ellipses, correspondences, repetitions, and counterpoints construct a flow in which each photograph transforms and is transformed through its relationships with the others[pt]
